Re-entry

Re-entry after our time in the States has been a little rough as we adjust back to a regular schedule, normal work hours, and a two hour time difference. The kids have handled it like champs, and they have become such great international travellers.

We spent time in Maryland, visited my brother and his wife in Philadelphia, went to Pittsburgh, then returned to Maryland and took a day-trip to D.C. before catching a plane back to El Salvador. Despite a bout with the stomach flu, everything went smoothly and we had a great trip!

We were really blessed by all of our friends, family, individual donors, and supporting churches who cheered us on during our visit. We had the opportunity to visit three churches, and to share with friends and donors about El Salvador.  Those who support our ministry through prayer and finances are such a valuable part of our team, and it was a privilege to update everyone in person about our ministries and everything that is going on here.

It was really fun for the kids and I to have the time to explore the U.S. and to touch base with all of our family and friends back home. We are truly grateful for our time there, and saying good-bye was difficult for all of us.

While we were gone, Jon was very busy in El Salvador hosting teams, doing all of the regular ministries, and helping to prepare for the DTS which starts next week. We really missed him and it’s great to be together again enjoying the last few weeks before the kids go back to school.

Here are a few highlights from our trip…

Eating cheesesteak subs in Philadelphia with my brother and sister-in-law.

The kids in front of Independence Hall.

Tori loved learning more about Benjamin Franklin, she is a big fan after reading a biography about him this year.

The kids with Papa at Ben Franklin’s house. They enjoyed seeing all the historic sites and taking a ride on the Delaware River.

Cutting grass with Papa!

Picking wineberries in Nana and Papa’s yard in Maryland.

Making cookies with Nana in Pittsburgh.

Tori and her cousin playing in the sandbox

It was so much fun celebrating July 4th in the U.S. this year!

Swimming in Nana’s pool with aunts, uncles, and cousins was so much fun!

Still swimming at 10:30 pm!

Love these two!

We went to Kennywood with all the Pittsburgh relatives for the day. The kids loved riding the rides…especially the roller coasters!

So much fun!

We already miss all of our family in the States!

The kids with their great-grandparents…it was such a blessing to see them.

Fun day with the Maryland cousins playing at the beach and swimming in the Chesapeake Bay!

Riding the train into D.C. to visit the Smithsonian was so much fun!

In front of the Washington Monument with Nana and Papa. We had a great time, but saying good-bye to everyone was so tough!
