Training Workshop on Human Trafficking

Human Trafficking. It’s a hot topic right now in the States, and it’s a global problem affecting millions every day who are living as slaves. Many of them are children. It is happening in the U.S., in Asia, in Africa, in Europe…in every corner of the globe people are being bought and sold.

It’s happening in Central America too…right here in El Salvador there are victims. Many are being moved through Central America, or have been deceived into believing they have the chance for a better life in the U.S., so they trust the wrong person. As I talk to many around San Salvador, there is little information available on the problem. There is little awareness of what human trafficking actually is and how to recognize it. We ourselves are still learning about this horrific problem.

In El Salvador we work closely with YWAM, and we are sponsoring an event to offer some education in this area. All local churches, ministries, and missionaries are invited to attend this workshop to find out more about human trafficking. This workshop will explore what human trafficking is, how to recognize a victim, how to help a victim, and understanding God’s heart for all of those involved in both the supply and demand sides of this issue.

Elizabeth Gilroy, founder of Freedom Street Ministry, will be presenting training on this topic. She is very involved with the fight against human trafficking in Costa Rica and she is well versed in the realities and design of the sex trade around the world.

The workshop will be held on September 29th from 8-4 and includes a snack and lunch. The cost is $12 to help us cover our costs for the event. The workshop will also be bi-lingual and is open to anyone who wants to understand more about human trafficking. Please contact us at info@missiontoelsalvador.com if you are in El Salvador and would like to attend. The flyer is included below, so please feel free to pass it on!
