The Lighthouse Project

mtes_lighthouse_missionAddiction is a leading cause of homelessness in El Salvador, and many of our clients struggle with addiction. Tuesdays and Thursdays we offer a program where our clients can come into our center, take a bath, brush their teeth, receive lunch, and turn in their clothes to be washed and receive clean ones in return. At these meetings, each client meets one-on-one with a staff member to discuss their goals and plans for that week. Our clients also listen to a devotional from a staff member that points them to God in a practical way.

We work to connect our clients with a rehab center if they are willing to take that step, and we have long-term follow up plans for our clients who complete rehab and need assistance moving forward in their lives.

Those who attend the Lighthouse Project are also eligible to participate in the Lighthouse Bakery and Card-Making micro-enterprise. They are also eligible to apply for membership in our Community Food Co-Op. We offer housing and job assistance whenever possible and work to help our clients to earn job skills and experiences to help them to move forward in their lives.
