Our Projects
We are consistently working to improve the lives of those living in orphanages, as well as those living in situations that put them at a high-risk of being affected by gang activity, extreme poverty, and violence. Some of the specific projects we are working on now are listed below:
CISNA Boy’s Center Computer Lab
CISNA is a center for boys located in a community at high risk for gang activity. We have been working to outfit this computer lab and have begun training the boys in computer skills. This will help them to gain a better education and have more marketable job skills when they leave the orphanage at the age of 18.
Lighthouse Homeless Ministry
We have a weekly meeting dedicated to offering men, women, and children on the streets an opportunity to take a shower, get new clothes, eat a hot lunch, and experience community with us as we talk to them and share from God’s word with them. Many of the individuals involved in this ministry are struggling with addictions. We also offer an adult-literacy program to those adults who come regularly.
Feeding the Homeless
Several times a month we make and distribute meals to the homeless men, women, and children living on the streets of San Salvador.
Rural Health Clinic Assistance
We are working to assist a rural health clinic outside the city of Santa Ana by collecting medical equipment and donating it to the clinic.
Donation Collection and Distribution
We shipped our first 40 foot container loaded with medical supplies, clothes, furniture, tools, and children’s items from Pittsburgh, PA to El Salvador in June 2011. We utilize the donations received from churches, individuals, and organizations in Pittsburgh to distribute to those most in need in poor communities around the country.
Disaster Relief
We are ready to help if a natural disaster should strike the country. The rainy season in Central America brings hurricanes, floods, and landslides. El Salvador is also a country susceptible to earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. In the past, we have organized volunteers to clean up after natural disasters and distributed emergency food kits to affected communities.
Local Church Support
Local churches in El Salvador are in a unique position to serve their communities. We desire to support local churches in neighborhoods around the city by helping them with construction projects and special events.
