Teamwork

The summer is really starting to wind down. The kids are back in school, and we will only be hosting one more summer volunteer team. It’s been great to partner with so many churches and organizations this summer and they’ve plugged in well to help us further the work that we are doing.

I’ve also been so impressed with all of our staff members. It’s been less than a year since we transitioned out on our own here in El Salvador and this past year has been about building a team. We’ve prayed and searched for people who have a vision to see people walk off the streets of San Salvador and into new purpose. It’s a job that requires years of personal investment with very few payoffs.

We are grateful for the team we have, and we have gotten to know one another, we’ve grown, and we’ve had fun. We are learning to find our rhythm together as any team does.

A month or so ago, we went to a national soccer game here in the city. Some of our staff went, along with interns and volunteers. As we watched the players passing, waiting, defending, advancing together up and down the field I thought about our team. We make mistakes, and we have misunderstandings. Every single team does that, but we can cheer each other on and help each other to become better people. God is using our team to make us better players and I am so grateful for that.

Please be praying for all of us as we grow together and search out next steps for ministry. This fall we will be doing some training together, and we will continue to settle into all of our positions.

We also ask that you pray with us for new team members. Soon we will be adding a new staff member in partnership with Free The Girls to help us grow our ministry to victims of trafficking, and we are trusting God for wisdom as we begin to search for the right woman for that job.

Stay tuned for more information coming soon about a couple from Canada in the process of fundraising to move their family here, and to be part of our team. We know that God is putting this all together, so please be praying for all of us that we would grow strong and healthy together.
