It’s definitely time for a quick update. Our internet was iffy for the past few weeks so I haven’t been able to post anything, not to mention we have been running, running, running for days!
We are in the homestretch of the school year for the kids which means final projects, tests, and a general wrapping up of 1st and 4th grade. I can’t help it, the last few weeks of the school year are always bittersweet for me. I hate the fact that my kids are growing up so fast, and I am looking forward to having them around all summer.
We also have continued to have growth in our ministries with the Lighthouse Project welcoming more homeless men and women each week, and the addition of another girl to the Free the Girls program as she transitions from a safehouse to the “real world.” Last weekend, Madison, our first summer intern arrived to help with all of our summer teams and our ministries.
We welcomed our first mission team of the summer last week…the Church at Ackworth and they were a blessing to El Salvador. This week we are working with New Hope PCA as they serve kids at risk and the homeless in El Salvador. The picture on top shows an ocean view during the team free day last week. It’s great making so many new friends!
Our friends, the Smiths, were part of the first team and a few of them stayed after the church trip to spend time with our family. Tori and Ian had an absolute blast with their kids, and we are all sad to see them go.
The latest country news is that El Salvador has been experiencing a recent crime wave. A truce between the gangs has expired and unfortunately that means that the murder rate is up. Please pray for peace for El Salvador. A new President was also sworn in this past weekend, and we got to witness a “good-bye parade” to the former President Funes on Saturday as he left office.
So, there you go, a quick update on everything that is happening in El Salvador. Now that our internet is back to normal, I will be back to blogging about what’s happening around here.
